Photos and stories from treks in the Himalayas

Welcome to this introduction to my forthcoming books about trekking in the Himalayas.

Go to the Treks page for stories and slideshows about treks in Nepal, Sikkim and Tibet

On the Maps page you can see where I've been, and places you could go.

The Projects page describes a few ways I've found to help some people there, the kind of deeply rewarding things any of us can do.

The Blog chats about my progress on the book, plans for upcoming treks and some random ruminations.  I hope it will evolve into a dialog.

About Martin says a bit about the rebirths of a computer networking pioneer as a sheep farmer, a management consultant, a big business executive and now an explorer.
What this site is for:

To tempt  you to Buy my forthcoming books!

I fell for the Himalayas in 2003 because it's so beautiful, the people are fascinating and I sensed we have much to learn from each other.  I've spent three to six months a year there ever since and I'm starting to understand.

I hope the pictures and stories here will encourage you to visit the Himalayas, too.  Maybe you already want to and you're wondering what it would be like on a trek, how fit you have to be, if your age matters, how rewarding it would really be?

There's a lot of information here and there'll be much more in my books.  I'd also love to hear from you.
